The One Habit That Changed My Life the Most
My Habit โ Reading Books & Novels

Some people find peace in the mountains.
Some find it in music.
Some discover it while traveling.
And me…
I find my peace between the pages of a book.
If someone asks me,
“What’s the one habit that has transformed your life the most?”
My answer will always be the sameโ
Reading books and novels.
But I don’t just enjoy reading.
I’m an emotional reader.
I don’t simply read stories…
I live them.
๐ฟ When My Mind Feels Heavy…
Like everyone else, I have days when life feels overwhelming.
Days when I’m angry.
Days when my heart feels heavier than usual.
Days when I simply want everything to pause for a while.
Whenever that happens, I don’t immediately open a book.
First, I take a few deep breaths.
I sit quietly with myself.
I allow my mind to slow down.
And then…
I pick up a book.
Not because I’m trying to escape reality.
But because I’m trying to return to myself.
I want to disappear into a world where, for a little while, my own worries become quieter.
Where I can walk beside characters who struggle, dream, lose, love, heal, and grow.
For a few hours…
I stop carrying my own burdens.
When I close the book, my problems are still there.
Nothing outside has changed.
But something inside me always has.
My perspective becomes calmer.
My thoughts become clearer.
My heart becomes lighter.
That’s why reading isn’t my escape.
It’s my way of healing.
โค๏ธ I Feel Every Story
I’m the kind of reader who gets emotionally attached to fictional characters.
When two people finally find each other in a beautiful love story…
I smile.
When they are forced apart…
I cry.
Sometimes a fictional character’s pain feels so real that even after finishing the book, I continue thinking about them for days.
People often tell me,
“It’s just a story.”
But for me…
Every great story carries a piece of truth.
That’s why I become emotionally connected.
Their happiness becomes mine.
Their heartbreak breaks something inside me too.
And honestly…
I’ve cried while reading novels more times than I can count.
I’ve never been ashamed of those tears.
Because tears don’t always mean weakness.
Sometimes they simply mean
your heart still knows how to feel.
๐ What Kind of Books Do I Love?
If you ever looked at my bookshelf,
you’d probably think it contains many different worlds living together.
I don’t belong to just one genre.
I fall in love with ideas.
That’s why my reading journey moves across many worlds.
I love Western Philosophyโthe timeless wisdom of Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, Friedrich Nietzsche, and other thinkers who challenge the way we see life, discipline, purpose, and the human mind.
I equally admire Indian Philosophy.
For me, the Bhagavad Gita, the Ramayana, and the Mahabharata are not merely sacred scriptures.
They are timeless conversations about duty, leadership, ethics, relationships, choices, and human nature.
Every time I return to them,
they reveal something new.
I’m deeply fascinated by books on Psychology, because they explain why people think, feel, and behave the way they do.
I love Ethics, because it constantly asks one difficult questionโ
“What is the right thing to do?”
I’m equally drawn to books about Power, Leadership, Politics, and Human Nature, because they reveal the world beyond idealism.
Books like…
The Psychology of Money
Rich Dad Poor Dad
The Diary of a CEO
The 48 Laws of Power
Meditations
Man’s Search for Meaning
Ikigai
Deep Work
have all changed the way I think.
But if you ask me what truly owns my heart…
The answer is simple.
Novels.
Especially emotional love stories.
Stories filled with longing…
Sacrifice…
Hope…
Growth…
Heartbreak…
And unforgettable characters.
I also hold Indian Literature very close to my heart.
Works like Godaan, Gunahon Ka Devta, Maila Anchal, Raag Darbari, Jhutha Sach, Mahabhoj, and Tamas remind me that literature is not merely about stories.
It is about understanding society…
People…
History…
And ourselves.
๐ธ What Reading Has Given Me
Books have given me far more than knowledge.
They have given me patience.
Perspective.
Empathy.
The courage to stay alone without feeling lonely.
They have taught me to listen before judging.
To understand before reacting.
To think before speaking.
Most importantly…
They helped me understand myself.
When the world becomes too loud,
books quietly remind me who I am.
โจ My Biggest Lesson
The greatest gift books have given me isn’t information.
It’s transformation.
Every book leaves something behind.
A question.
A lesson.
A memory.
A different way of looking at life.
Some books challenge my beliefs.
Some comfort me.
Some completely change the way I see the world.
I’ve learned that reading isn’t about collecting books.
It’s about collecting perspectives.
Every page makes us a little wiser.
A little kinder.
A little more human.
That’s why I don’t believe books simply educate us.
I believe they shape us.
๐ผ Final Thoughts
If someone ever asks me,
“What habit changed your life the most?”
My answer will always remain the same.
Falling in love with books.
Because I haven’t merely read them.
I’ve laughed with them.
I’ve cried with them.
I’ve healed through them.
I’ve grown because of them.
Books are not just words printed on paper.
They are my quiet place.
My therapy.
My teachers.
My companions.
And perhaps…
A small part of my soul.

๐ SHREEBIRD REFLECTION
“Some people change by traveling across the world.
Others change by turning the pages of a single beautiful book.
Because sometimes the longest journeys are not traveled by our feet…
They are traveled by our hearts.”
