“Some dream of dining with Sherlock Holmes. Others choose Harry Potter or the Little Prince. But my heart has never searched that far.”

If someone asked me,
“If you could have dinner with any fictional or legendary character, who would it be?”
My answer would come instantlyโ
Lord Krishna.
But not as the prince of Dwarka.
Not as the charioteer of Kurukshetra.
I would choose Lord Jagannath of Puriโthe form of Krishna that feels closest to my heart.
Because I am an Odia girl, and above all, a Jagannath devotee.
For me, this wouldn’t simply be a dinner.
It would be the greatest blessing of my life.
๐ A Dinner Date in Puri
Forget five-star restaurants.
Forget candlelight dinners by the beach.
My dream dinner date begins inside the sacred city of Puri, where the sound of conch shells fills the air, temple bells echo through the streets, and every step feels like a prayer.
I imagine sitting quietly in the presence of Lord Jagannath.
No long list of wishes.
No questions about my future.
No complaints about life.
Just gratitude.
Because sometimes the deepest conversations happen in silence.
๐ The Meal I Dream About
The meal wouldn’t be pizza, pasta, or sushi.
It would be Jagannath Mahaprasad.
The world knows about the famous Chhappan Bhog (56 Bhog) of Puri Jagannath Temple.
According to the temple’s sacred tradition, Maa Lakshmi herself blesses the preparation of the food, making every offering an expression of divine love.
The temple kitchen itself is nothing short of miraculous.
Hundreds of earthen pots are stacked one above another over traditional wood-fired stoves.
Yet, devotees have believed for centuries that the topmost pot cooks first, a mystery that continues to amaze everyone.
The food is never tasted while cooking.
Still, every dish turns out perfect.
And somehow, the Mahaprasad never seems to fall short for the devotees who come with faith.
Is it science?
Is it faith?
Or is it simply Jagannath’s grace?
Perhaps some miracles are meant to be experienced rather than explained.
๐ธ A Memory That Lives Forever
In 2024, I was blessed to visit Puri Jagannath Temple.
Even today, that memory feels alive.
After the bhog was offered to the Lord, I received the Mahaprasad inside the temple.
There were no luxurious dining tables.
No expensive cutlery.
We all sat together on the floor with simple pattal and dona.
Rich or poor.
Young or old.
Everyone shared the same Mahaprasad.
That moment taught me one of the greatest lessons of spiritualityโ
Before Lord Jagannath, everyone is equal.
And then came the first bite…
How do you describe something that touches your soul?
It wasn’t just tasty.
It wasn’t just delicious.
It felt… heavenly.
As if every grain carried love, devotion, and blessings.
Even today, I haven’t found words powerful enough to describe that taste.
Maybe because Mahaprasad isn’t meant to be explained.
It is meant to be experienced.
๐ฌ What Would I Say to Krishna?
If Lord Jagannath sat beside me…
I don’t think I would ask,
“When will my dreams come true?”
Or,
“Why do difficult times come?”
Instead, I would simply smile and say,
“Thank You.”
Thank You for every blessing I noticed.
And for every blessing I didn’t.
For every closed door that protected me.
For every unanswered prayer that later became my greatest lesson.
Maybe Krishna would simply smile back.
Because sometimes silence itself becomes the answer.
โค๏ธ The Best Dinner Date
People often imagine romance when they hear the words “dinner date.”
But the most beautiful dinner date doesn’t always involve candles or flowers.
Sometimes…
It is sitting on the temple floor.
Sharing Mahaprasad.
Feeling grateful.
Feeling peaceful.
Feeling close to God.
That is the kind of dinner I would choose over every luxury in the world.
๐ผ Final Thoughts
If I could have dinner with any fictional or legendary character…
I would always choose Lord Krishna in the divine form of Jagannath.
Not for miracles.
Not for answers.
Not even for conversation.
Just to sit beside Him once again…
To receive His Mahaprasad…
And to experience that indescribable feeling that no five-star meal could ever offer.
Because some meals satisfy your hunger.
Jagannath’s Mahaprasad satisfies your soul.
And perhaps that is the most beautiful dinner date anyone could ever dream of.
โจ Quote of the Day
“The holiest dinner table is not where luxury is served, but where gratitude becomes the meal and God’s grace becomes the feast.”
