Which is the best restaurant in your city?

If you ask me this question, I don’t need a long list of famous restaurants or fancy five-star names.

My answer is simple:

Sopa Kitchen, Majnu Ka Tila, Delhi.

And the reason isn’t just that the food is delicious.

It is because this restaurant has quietly become a part of my life, my celebrations, my dates, my cravings and some of my favourite memories since 2022.

🍜 How I Discovered Sopa Kitchen

I discovered this restaurant in 2022, when it was known as Dolma. Later, it became Sopa Kitchen.

But for me, the name change never changed what mattered most—the food.

From that first discovery, Sopa Kitchen slowly became my place for main-course food whenever I visited Majnu Ka Tila.

And over time, something beautiful happened.

Almost every date, birthday and small celebration found its way to Majnu Ka Tila.

It became our little tradition.

❤️ Majnu Ka Tila and My Celebration Ritual

Majnu Ka Tila itself has a special charm.

The colourful lanes, Tibetan influence, little cafés, bakeries, restaurants and the feeling of discovering something new every time you walk through its streets make it one of my favourite corners of Delhi.

And when it came to choosing where to eat, we had almost created our own formula.

For coffee, cheesecake, croissants and café-style treats, Nepali Kitchen was one of our favourite choices.

But when it was time for the main course, there was practically no debate.

Sopa Kitchen.

Every time.

Because, honestly, for me, their taste is unbeatable.

🥟 The Momos I Keep Craving

There are restaurants you visit because you’re hungry.

And then there are restaurants you visit because your brain suddenly starts demanding a particular dish. 😂

Sopa Kitchen belongs to the second category.

Every 15–20 days, I start craving their:

🌶️ Spicy Momos

These are for the days when I want something hot, spicy and full of flavour.

That spicy kick is exactly what makes them so satisfying.

🥟 Emadashi Momos

These have become another personal favourite.

Their distinctive flavour makes them different from the ordinary momo experience.

And somehow, once I’ve had them, I start thinking about them again after a couple of weeks.

🍞 Tmo Bread

And then there is Tmo Bread.

Simple, comforting and incredibly satisfying.

Together, Spicy Momos + Emadashi Momos + Tmo Bread have become my unofficial Sopa Kitchen craving combination.

It has reached a point where every few weeks I find myself thinking:

“It’s been too long. I need Sopa Kitchen.”

And that’s when you know a restaurant has made an impression.

🍜 It’s Not Just About Momos

Another reason I love Sopa Kitchen is that it isn’t limited to one famous dish.

You can explore a variety of Tibetan and Chinese food, with plenty of interesting flavours to choose from.

The menu gives you the opportunity to try something beyond the usual Delhi restaurant experience.

And the best part?

It is delicious without being unnecessarily expensive.

For me, that’s a perfect combination.

Good food + unique flavours + affordable prices = a restaurant worth returning to.

💰 Delicious and Affordable

I have always believed that great food doesn’t have to come with a luxury price tag.

Sometimes the most memorable meals are eaten in simple restaurants with friends, when everyone orders a little more than they planned and then spends the rest of the meal saying:

“Bas ye last bite hai.”

And then orders something else. 😂

That’s the charm of places like Sopa Kitchen.

You can enjoy delicious Tibetan and Chinese food without feeling like you need a special occasion or a huge budget.

Although, ironically, I ended up making it the place for many of my special occasions anyway.

🎂 Birthdays, Dates and Little Celebrations

This is probably the biggest reason Sopa Kitchen is my answer to this question.

Since discovering it in 2022, my dates, birthdays and even small celebrations have repeatedly taken me to Majnu Ka Tila.

Not every celebration needs balloons, expensive dinners or elaborate plans.

Sometimes a celebration is simply:

A walk through MKT.

Coffee at Nepali Kitchen.

A cheesecake.

Maybe a croissant.

Then a delicious main course at Sopa Kitchen.

Good food.

Good conversation.

And a memory that stays much longer than the meal itself.

Over time, restaurants stop being just restaurants.

They become part of your story.

Sopa Kitchen has become that for me.

🌏 Why Sopa Kitchen Is “The Best” For Me

Of course, Delhi has thousands of restaurants.

There are more luxurious restaurants.

There are more fashionable restaurants.

There are restaurants with prettier interiors and bigger menus.

But that’s not how I decide what the “best” restaurant is.

For me, the best restaurant is the one that makes me want to return.

The one whose food I remember days later.

The one I recommend without hesitation.

The one associated with birthdays and dates.

And most importantly—

the one I start craving every 15–20 days.

Sopa Kitchen passes every one of those tests.

❤️ My Final Verdict

If you ever ask me:

“Which is the best restaurant in your city?”

I won’t claim that Sopa Kitchen is objectively the best restaurant in all of Delhi.

Food is personal.

But I can confidently say:

It is one of the most special restaurants in my personal food story.

I discovered it in 2022 when it was known as Dolma.

Since then, it has been part of my dates, birthdays and little celebrations.

I’ve gone back for the Spicy Momos, Emadashi Momos and Tmo Bread more times than I can probably count.

And every 15–20 days, the craving comes back.

Maybe that’s the real definition of a favourite restaurant.

Not the number of awards hanging on its wall.

Not the price of its menu.

Not how famous it is on Instagram.

But this simple feeling:

“I haven’t eaten there in a while. I want to go back.”

And for me, that place will always be:

Sopa Kitchen, Majnu Ka Tila. ❤️
